KFPL Season 2 - The Group Stages

A run-down of the Group stages format, the 8 groups, and a competition for our viewers!

After a grueling series of qualifiers and monthly events, the KeyForge Premier League has filled all its spots and is ready to start Season 2 of the League!

In Season 2, each of the 56 qualified players have been split between 8 groups. These groups were determined by a random draw, but based on time zone groupings for ease of scheduling games. The 7 players in each group will complete a Round Robin over 7 weeks. The top placed player in each group will move automatically into the Top 16 elimination bracket. The 2nd and 3rd placed players will then play off against eachother, with the winner moving into the Top 16 bracket.

The format for Season 2 is Triad - each player must bring 3 decks, with a few restrictions:

  • Only 1 deck may have Heart of the Forest

  • Each deck must be from a different set (CotA, AoA, WC, MM)

Borrowing decks is permitted and even encouraged for this event - we want to see the best players in the world piloting the best decks in the world!

Without further ado, it's time to introduce the Groups!

These groups represent players from the USA, Brazil, and Canada. They are joined by an Australian player to round out the numbers.

Across these groups, there are 6 players who made the Top 16 in Season 1: Ugluk4242, Rodion, siaka, drsheep422, DaveCordeiro, and JustAGuyPlayin. There's sure to be fierce competition here!

These groups are comprised of players from Belgium, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Returning from the Top 16 of Season 1 are: Kiivii, Xiar, and IrieDaily. Kiivii in particular presents a scary challenge for Group E as the Season 1 Champion. These groups will be amazing to watch!

The final group is comprised of players from Australia, Hong Kong, Russia and The Philippines.

Four of these players are returning from the Top 16 of Season 1: Anxiospirate, firesa1, Andyming and GorebellyPH. The battles in this group are sure to be especially brutal!
